Marketing Communications - Collection of data
We collect or obtain data relating to you essentially in two ways:
a) Data that you provide
Guided by the Privacy Act, we may ask you to provide information such as your name, postal address, telephone number, email address and geographic information at various times:
- When you become our policyholder or nominate someone as a contact, and similar situations as mentioned in our Privacy Policy and Website Privacy Statement;
- When you engage with us at a sponsored event or a conference;
- When you request information relating to our insurance products and services.
b) Data that we access when you engage electronically
- Emails: Emails that promote our product and services. These email messages are HTML-formatted that help us track and report back any action recipients take in response for example; whether a message has been opened, read, deleted or if the recipient clicked on the action button to enquire more about our products.
- E-newsletters: Quarterly e-newsletters that provide general insurance advice and additional information about our products and services. These e-newsletters are delivered through Mail Chimp (an online marketing platform operated by The Rocket Science Group LLC) and help us track and report action the recipient takes in response for example; whether a message has been opened, read, deleted, device usage etc. Read more about Mail Chimp Privacy Policy.
- Short Message Service (SMS): We use SMS services to those policyholders who have been impacted by a major weather event such as Bushfire, Cyclone, Storm etc. Our SMS service provides essential information and gives details regarding how and when to get in touch with us. We use data provided by you such as your mobile phone number to send the SMS. Our SMS service is delivered through SMS.IT. Read more about SMS.IT Privacy Policy.
Note that each of our above communications has an “unsubscribe” option and you can click the link in order to be removed from our marketing communications list. After you unsubscribe, we will not send you further marketing communications, but we may continue to contact you to the extent necessary for the purposes of any services you may have requested.
Subscription lists
By completing our insurance application form or by renewing your insurance policy with us, you consent to us including you on our mailing list. Since August 2021, we have amended our insurance application process and now provide prospective policyholders with a question as an option regarding receiving our e-newsletters. If you subscribe to a mailing list, your email address and any other personal information that you might provide will be maintained on our mailing list. The mailing list is hosted by an external service provider Mail Chimp. It will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it and will not be added to another mailing list without your prior consent, which DSH Insurance will seek through a request in writing.
We do not and will not sell any personal data to third parties for their own commercial use. We will never use your personal data to advertise, promote, or market third-party goods or services to you. Additionally, we will not license or publish any of your personal data.
